Bryant Middle School

We are located in Bryant, Arkansas which is a few miles southwest of Little Rock, Arkansas. Bryant is the geographical center of Arkansas. Bryant is growing on leaps and bounds and has a population of approximately 18,000 people.

Bryant Middle school is one of the middle schools in Bryant that services 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.  Four years ago, we began implementing the PLTW curriculum into the 8th grade and also began competing in VEX Robotics.  As of now, Robotics is only offered to the 8th grade with plans to expand to the 6th and 7th grades in the near future.

In the classroom, students learn basic AutoCADD with the program Autodesk Inventor. The students will be introduced to the program and learn to draw 2-dimensional objects and change them into 3-dimensional objects.  The students also learn coding in the program of RobotC.  The students learn the basic of coding and create machines out of VEX materials and program them to complete tasks (EX. Toll Booth, Grandma's Chair, Elevator, etc.)

An extension of the clasroom is the robotic team compeittion.  Each year, VEX announces the new challenge for the VEX Robotic Tournaments.  The students begin to plan, design, and build a robot that would complete the challenge.  We then take the completed robot to a VEX Robotics Competition and compete against other Middle School and High School Teams from around the state.  After the competition, we see what when well, what went not so well, and what we liked from the other robots.  We then plan again to make the robot better for the next competition.
